The people of Gennesaret recognized Jesus and spread the word to the whole area. People came from everywhere, bringing their sick to Him.
When you encounter Jesus and His power, the natural response is to tell others. These people couldn't keep the good news to themselves.
Matthew describes the enthusiastic response of the local population.
News of Jesus' arrival sets off a wave of hope across the region. Everywhere people hear about Him, they respond with urgency and faith.
The recognition (epignontes) of Jesus by the men of Gennesaret triggers a regional mobilization. The sending of word to the perichōron (surrounding region) demonstrates an informal network of communication about Jesus' healing power.
