Sent Out Like Sheep

Jesus says that even something as simple as giving a cup of cold water to one of His humble followers will be rewarded. No act of kindness is too small for God to notice.
Jesus closes His instructions with a beautiful promise about generosity. God sees every small kindness and values it deeply.

Jesus ends on a tender note: you do not need grand gestures to serve God. A cup of water given with love is enough. God treasures every act of kindness.
Even the smallest act of kindness -- a cup of cold water (poterion psychrou) given to one of 'these little ones' (ton mikron touton) -- will not lose its reward (ou me apolese ton misthon autou).
The 'little ones' likely refers to the disciples themselves, whom Jesus characterizes with humility language. The emphatic double negative (ou me) guarantees the permanence of the reward.
