Jesus catalogs the products of the corrupted heart, beginning with 'evil thoughts' (hoi dialogismoi hoi kakoi) as the root, followed by specific sins: 'sexual immorality' (porneiai), 'theft' (klopai), 'murder' (phonoi), 'adultery' (moicheiai).
The vice list moves from the internal source (evil thoughts) to external manifestations, beginning with sins that violate the second table of the Decalogue (6th-10th commandments). The plural forms suggest habitual patterns.
