A few days later, Jesus came back to Capernaum, and word got around that He was home.
He'd been traveling from town to town, but Capernaum was His home base. And the moment people heard He was back, they came running.
Mark sets the scene for the next major encounter by noting Jesus' return to Capernaum.
Jesus came home, and the town lit up with excitement. After everything they'd seen before He left, they couldn't wait to see what would happen next.
After several days, Jesus returned to Capernaum, and word quickly spread (ēkousthē, 'it was heard') that He was 'at home' (en oikō), likely referring to Simon Peter's house.
The phrase en oikō ('in a house' or 'at home') suggests Jesus had established a residential base in Capernaum, consistent with Matthew 4:13 and Mark 1:29.
