They're doing everything they can to make Jesus look like a dangerous political rebel. The more charges, the harder it is for Pilate to dismiss the case.
The chief priests act as aggressive prosecutors.
They bombard Pilate with charges, trying to overwhelm him into ordering the execution they want.
The chief priests heap multiple kategoriai (accusations) against Jesus, pressing their case aggressively before Pilate.
Mark does not detail the specific charges, but Luke 23:2 lists them: perverting the nation, forbidding tribute to Caesar, and claiming to be a king. The priests are building a political case.
