Watch and Wait

Stars will fall from the sky, and the forces that hold the heavens together will be shaken. Everything you thought was fixed and permanent will tremble.
This is poetic language for the total transformation of everything. When God acts, nothing stays the same — not even the stars.
Jesus continues painting the picture of cosmic upheaval.
If the world you know feels stable and unchangeable, this is a reminder: God is bigger than all of it, and He's building something entirely new.
The falling of stars and the shaking of heavenly powers draw from Isaiah 34:4 and Joel 2:10, depicting the dissolution of the cosmic order preceding God's new creation.
The 'powers of the heavens' (Greek: hai dunameis hai en tois ouranois) may refer to celestial bodies and/or spiritual powers that govern the present age.
Jesus continues describing cosmic signs using prophetic imagery.
The cosmic imagery reaches its crescendo: the entire heavenly order shakes and falls, signaling that the present age is giving way to the age to come.
23So be on your guard; I have told you everything in advance.
24But in those days, after that tribulation: ‘The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;
25the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.’
26At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
27And He will send out the angels to gather His elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.
