Jesus told them, 'Go into the village ahead. You'll find a young colt tied up that's never been ridden. Untie it and bring it here.'
Jesus knew exactly what they'd find and where. He was orchestrating every detail of His entrance — humbly, on a young donkey, not a war horse.
Jesus gives specific instructions to two disciples.
The detail is remarkable. Jesus described what they'd find before they got there. He was in complete control, preparing an entrance that would echo ancient prophecy.
The colt 'on which no one has ever sat' (eph' hon oudeis oupō anthrōpōn ekathisen) fulfills the requirement for sacred use (Numbers 19:2, Deuteronomy 21:3, 1 Samuel 6:7). Jesus' detailed foreknowledge implies either prophetic insight or prior arrangement.
The unridden colt alludes to Zechariah 9:9, where the messianic king comes riding on a donkey's colt, humbly rather than on a war horse.
Jesus gives precise instructions about finding and retrieving the colt.
Jesus describes exactly what the disciples will find — a specific colt, tied at a specific location, never ridden. Every detail serves the prophetic fulfillment of Zechariah's vision of a humble king.
