This goes back to God's original promise to Abraham—that through him, all nations would be blessed. When God's people live faithfully, they become a light to others. It's always been God's desire to use His people as a witness to His goodness.

As a result of obedience and blessing, all nations will recognize Judah as blessed, calling it a land of delight.

Language and setting

This represents the eschatological vision underlying the entire oracle—obedient Israel becomes a beacon of blessing to the nations. The phrase recalls Genesis 12:2-3, where Abraham's blessing extends to all peoples. Post-exilic Judah had become a marginal vassal state; this verse holds out the prospect of restoration to prominence and influence through faithful covenant living.
