Born Blind, Now Seeing

The man says, 'Lord, I believe,' and he worships Jesus. His journey from blindness to sight—physical and spiritual—is complete.
His understanding of Jesus has grown beautifully throughout this chapter: from 'a man' to 'a prophet' to 'from God' to 'Lord.' Each step brought him closer to the truth.
The healed man makes his full confession of faith and falls into worship.
This is the climax of one of the most beautiful conversion stories in Scripture. A man born in darkness has found the Light of the World, and his only response is to worship.
The man's response reaches the highest christological confession in the chapter: 'pisteuō, kyrie' (Lord, I believe), accompanied by worship (prosekynēsen)—an act reserved for God alone.
The progression is complete: 'a man' (v.11) → 'a prophet' (v.17) → 'from God' (v.33) → 'Lord' with worship (v.38). Proskyneō (worship) in John consistently implies divine worship, making this a recognition of Jesus' deity.
The healed man makes his climactic confession of faith and worships Jesus.
The man's spiritual journey reaches its destination: from blindness to sight, from ignorance to faith, from begging to worship. He becomes the model of authentic Johannine discipleship.
36“Who is He, Sir?” he replied. “Tell me so that I may believe in Him.”
37“You have already seen Him,” Jesus answered. “He is the One speaking with you.”
38“Lord, I believe,” he said. And he worshiped Jesus.
39Then Jesus declared, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind may see and those who see may become blind.”
40Some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard this, and they asked Him, “Are we blind too?”
