Language and setting

This rhetorical conclusion employs a literary device common in ancient biographical writing (cf. Ecclesiastes 12:12). It functions as a final invitation to recognize that the written Gospel is a window into an infinitely larger reality.

Voice

The narrator (possibly a different voice from the Beloved Disciple) closes the Gospel with a sweeping, almost playful declaration.

Significance
