Arrested in the Garden
This was to fulfill the word that Jesus had spoken to indicate the kind of death He was going to die. John 18:32 · Berean Standard Bible
John points out that this fulfilled what Jesus had said about how He would die—'lifted up' on a cross, not stoned by Jewish law.
Even the political maneuvering is part of God's plan. Jesus predicted crucifixion, and the way the trial unfolds makes that specific form of death inevitable.

God's plan works even through corrupt politics. The very mechanism of injustice ends up fulfilling Jesus' own prediction about the cross.
John interprets the Jews' need for Roman execution as fulfilling Jesus' prophecy about the manner of His death—crucifixion rather than Jewish stoning.
Jesus predicted being 'lifted up' (John 3:14, 8:28, 12:32-33), indicating crucifixion (a Roman method). Jewish execution was by stoning. The political necessity of Roman involvement fulfilled this specific prophetic detail.

John sees divine orchestration in the jurisdictional politics: by requiring Roman involvement, the manner of Jesus' death shifts from Jewish stoning to Roman crucifixion, fulfilling Jesus' own prophecy of being 'lifted up.'

31“You take Him and judge Him by your own law,” Pilate told them.
