Jesus Prays
As You sent Me into the world, I have also sent them into the world. John 17:18 · Berean Standard Bible
Jesus says: 'Just as you sent me into the world, Father, I'm sending them into the world.' You carry the same mission Jesus carried.
This is an extraordinary commissioning. You're not just a follower—you're sent by Jesus the same way Jesus was sent by the Father.
Jesus commissions His followers through prayer.
Jesus passes the baton. The Father sent Him; now He sends you. Your life has the same purposeful direction and divine backing that Jesus' earthly ministry had.
Jesus draws a direct parallel between the Father's sending of Him into the world and His sending of the disciples, establishing apostolic mission as an extension of the divine mission.
The Greek 'apostello' (send with commission) used for both sendings indicates the disciples carry the same divine authority and purpose as Jesus Himself. This is the theological foundation of the Great Commission.
