Jesus says that when the Spirit comes, He will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment. The Spirit will show the world where it is wrong.
The Spirit does not just comfort believers; He also confronts the world with truth. He exposes the world's guilt, reveals true righteousness, and announces the enemy's defeat.

The Spirit will 'convict' (elenxei) the world concerning three things: sin, righteousness, and judgment. The verb elenxō means to expose, bring to light, or prove wrong.
The three areas of conviction correspond to the world's relationship with Jesus: sin in rejecting Him, righteousness in His vindication, and judgment in Satan's defeat. The Spirit's work is forensic and revelatory.
