The scholarly reading

Jesus reveals 'other sheep' (alla probata) not of 'this fold' (aulē)—referring to Gentile believers—whom He must (dei) also bring, resulting in 'one flock, one shepherd.'

Language and setting

This is one of the clearest Johannine references to the Gentile mission. The distinction between 'aulē' (fold/enclosure) and 'poimnē' (flock) is significant: the structure may change, but the flock under one shepherd is the goal.
