They sweeten the deal by offering full integration—intermarriage, living together as one people, sharing property.
The sons are being convincing because they're offering something real and appealing. They're promising the exact thing Hamor already proposed—exactly what would make Shechem think his dream is coming true. The deception is working because it's built on something true.

The most dangerous lies are wrapped in truth. The sons are using real possibilities to mask terrible intentions.
The sons elaborate their proposal: conditional upon circumcision, they will intermarry, exchange daughters, settle together, and 'become one people'—painting integration as the fruit of shared covenant.
The language וְנִהְיִינוּ עַם אֶחָד (venihyinu am echad, 'we will become one people') echoes covenant formulations found in cuneiform treaty language and later biblical descriptions of ethnic and religious merger (cf. Exodus 12:38, the 'mixed multitude'). The sons speak as though genuine integration awaits compliance with their term. Yet this flourishing vision conceals premeditated deception.

The sons present the most appealing vision of their proposal—complete cultural and kinship merger—precisely to ensure acceptance of the circumcision requirement that will doom Shechem's warriors.
14“We cannot do such a thing,” they said. “To give our sister to an uncircumcised man would be a disgrace to us.
15We will consent to this on one condition, that you become circumcised like us—every one of your males.
16Then we will give you our daughters and take your daughters for ourselves. We will dwell among you and become one people.
17But if you will not agree to be circumcised, then we will take our sister and go.”
18Their offer seemed good to Hamor and his son Shechem.
