Share in each other's struggles and pain—that's what it means to actually live out Christ's law, which is fundamentally about love.
Paul is spelling out what spiritual community looks like in practice. The Galatians were tempted to think Christianity was about rules and personal perfection, but Paul keeps redirecting them: it's about bearing with one another. Your friend's grief, financial trouble, illness, or doubt becomes yours too.

This echoes Jesus's command to love your neighbor as yourself and builds on his example of carrying our burdens to the cross. The 'law of Christ' is love made visible through sacrifice.
Bear one another's emotional, spiritual, and material burdens—this act of mutual support is the fulfillment of Christ's ethical teaching.
The Greek term *bastazo* (to bear, carry) carries weight—literally and metaphorically. In a community experiencing external pressure from Judaizers and internal discord over identity, practical solidarity becomes theological statement. Paul invokes 'the law of Christ' (*nomos tou Christou*)—a phrase unique to Galatians that reframes ethical obligation around Christ's example rather than Mosaic commandment.

This inaugurates what medieval theologians called the 'law of love'—a Christocentric ethic that perfects rather than abolishes Old Testament law. It anchors Christian ethics in the incarnational principle that God, in Christ, bore human burden at the cross, establishing the template for Christian community.
1Brothers, if someone is caught in a trespass, you who are spiritual should restore him with a spirit of gentleness. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.
2Carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
3If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
4Each one should test his own work. Then he will have reason to boast in himself alone, and not in someone else.
