The same God who empowered Peter's ministry to Jews empowered Paul's ministry to Gentiles, demonstrating equal divine authorization.

Language and setting

Paul employs the principle of divine agency—not the apostle's personal capacity but God's working (ἐνέργεια—energeia, what later theology called operative grace) determines apostolic effectiveness. By attributing both Peter's and his own success to identical divine action, Paul eliminates any hierarchical distinction. The Greek 'ἐνέργεια' specifically means energizing power or efficacy; it's what God does, not what apostles possess inherently. This theological argument moves from ecclesial recognition (verse 7) to pneumatological reality (verse 8).

Significance

6But as for the highly esteemed—whatever they were makes no difference to me; God does not show favoritism —those leaders added nothing to me.

10They only asked us to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.
