Maacah

also called Maacah daughter of Talmai

A princess of Geshur, daughter of King Talmai, and wife of David. She was the mother of Absalom, the most beautiful man in Israel who later rebelled against David, and of Tamar, whose violation by Amnon set that rebellion in motion. The marriage to Maacah likely represented a political alliance between David and the Aramean kingdom of Geshur.
