Also known as Nathanael, he was skeptical when Philip first told him about Jesus of Nazareth, famously asking ‘Can anything good come from Nazareth?’ When Jesus saw him approaching and declared he had seen him under the fig tree before Philip called him, Bartholomew exclaimed ‘You are the Son of God!’ He is traditionally associated with missionary work in Armenia, India, and Ethiopia.
